Fat Freddy is one of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, a trio of lovable, comic druggies. Since Fat Freddy and the gang are always either on drugs or looking for drugs, his cat is apt to feel neglected. As a result, Fat Freddy’s Cat become something like a hilariously evil version of Garfield. FFC habitually gets into trouble, soils the apartment, and loves nothing more than sinking his claws into Fat Freddy’s waterbed. At the same time, he has to contend with the cockroach militia that has organized in Fat Freddy’s cupboards.

First appearing as a tiny second feature squeezed into the bottom of Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers newspaper strips, Fat Freddy’s Cat was eventually enlarged and collected into this series of comic books. Although it was distributed primarily through head shops and other underground outlets, it nevertheless went on to become a remarkably popular comic.
