Although the characters are as bizarre and flamboyant as any super-hero, don’t expect any world-saving deeds from Aristotle, the uncanny Man-Frog, or his fellow “freaks” in the traveling circus. But the carnies are a close-knit group, willing to do whatever it takes to watch out for each other. Man-Frog, the werewolf-ish Spider Duvall, the Astonishing Ant, Galley the giant, and “Ears” Phinster often have to deal with prejudice and violence, especially from local townies who think the carnies are easy prey.
