CyberFarce
(Parody, 1993)
™ and © 1993 Chin, Hanon, Faucher & Maus
Parody Press! takes a few pot shots at Image Comics’ popular Cyberforce. As usual, Parody also manages to poke fun at several T.V. shows and celebrities at the same time. This issue spotlights a mockery of the “Saturday Night Live” television show, but also spoofs the Terminator, movie critics Siskel & Ebert, and martial artist/actor Steven Seagal. There’s even a backup story showcasing Ren & Stimpy.
The feature story takes place in a harsh future where humor has been outlawed. Comedians are freedom fighters, broadcasting their shows from secret underground stations. But when someone begins systematically hunting and killing stand-up comics and clowns, it’s up to the Cyberfarce team (the cast from Saturday Night Livid) to stop him. Unfortunately, they turn out to be no match for the criminal mastermind, Presidential candidate Dan Quayle.
Bloom County fans will also enjoy the cameo appearances of Opus and Bill the Cat.
