The Infinity War

The second of Jim Starlin’s cosmic “Infinity” saga pits Marvel’s heroes against The Magus—Adam Warlock’s evil half. On a quest for ultimate power, The Magus has The Infinity Gauntlet—a glove that can alter reality with a thought—in his sights. The heroes dislike teaming up with Warlock and Thanos. Worse, evil doppelgängers have infiltrated their ranks, spawning mistrust and paranoia.

Ron Lim’s art is great; he can give George Pérez a run for his money in handling large casts. The TPB includes crossover issues from Starlin’s Warlock and The Infinity Watch and a Thanos-Gamora story from Marvel Comics Presents. The Warlock issues aren’t in the order in which the comics were released, and it’s definitely not the order in which the story moves. It’s more like an appendix than anything else, even though it expands on sub-plots the main story in The Infinity War did not. Marvel should have printed the stories in chronological order. That hurts an otherwise good story. It’s foolish that Marvel did it this way—foolish. Also, why didn’t Marvel correct a mistake in which She-Hulk was accidentally colored as Jean Grey? (Jean isn’t more than six and a half feet tall.)
