2099 A.D. Apocalypse
(Marvel, 1995)
™ and ©1995 Marvel Entertainment Group
This special begins with an explosion and ends with a bang. It’s 2099, and the world is not a very nice place. In this violent, downtrodden time, President Doom (as in “Doctor Doom”) has installed himself as the president of the United States. His rule ends when the Corporate Forces bomb the White House, with Doom believed inside at the time.
Shortly afterward, SHIELD forces finally corner Jake Gallows, Doom’s Minister of Punishment and former vigilante Punisher 2099. He takes down several agents in a hail of gunfire until a Wave Spider airship finally sent him on to his final reward. A similar fate befell Hulk 2099, the last Wild Man and a danger to the authoritarian forces.
For the 2099 universe, this special marks the end of the beginning. The next phase began a month later in 2099 A.D. Apocalypse.
