Harbinger Files
(Valiant, 1994)
Solar Man of the Atom ©1994 Voyager Communiactions, Inc. and Western Publishing Company, Inc. Solar Man of the Atom ™ Western Publishing Company, Inc.
This short title appeared in 1994, featuring the origin of Harbinger villain Toyo Harada. Harada is a powerful telepath who set up the Harbinger Foundation to help train other “special” youngsters as part of his decades-long plan for a new world order.
As this story begins Harada has suffered a terrible defeat at the hands of Solar (in Solar, Man of the Atom #3). He is pulled from the wreckage of his private plane by a kindly hermit who nurses him back to health. As he heals, Harada relates his life’s story. While still a boy, his powers began to manifest themselves, eventually growing to where his own parents began to fear him. Later, his parents would die mysteriously and Harada would use his abilities to amass a fortune on the stock market using his psychic abilities. Always, Harada had been single-minded in his pursuit of power. And in the end, the hermit would pay a terrible price for helping save Toyo Harada’s life.
