Jefferson Pierce was an Olympic decathlon star, but he returned to his old neighborhood as a teacher. But the streets had gotten meaner while Pierce was gone; drug dealers even plied their trade in the high schools. Pierce stood up to them, but in retaliation, the mob known as “the 100” killed one of his students. After all, they knew that the one thing he cared about above all was his students.

He had to fight back, but he couldn’t do so as Jefferson Pierce. With the help of an old friend, he fashioned a disguise. Now as Black Lightning, he’s taking back the streets.

An inspiring hero, Black Lightning later became a member of the Outsiders.
