The Olympians

British civil servant Max Tarrant has been set up. His vindictive father-in-law has given him a “promotion”: to serve as administrator of the Ministry of Superheroics. Glamorous as the job might sound, he knows that he’s being set up to fail. For these official British super-heroes are so involved with drunkenness, in-fighting, and other problems that they’ve become the national joke. They’re even know as “the Olympians” because they seem to think of themselves as God’s gift to humanity.

Can even one as dedicated as Max straighten out a crew that includes the insecure Virtuoso: Last Son of Krapton; the decrepit drunk Brainwave; the libidinous Athena; and the bumbling Bulldog (who hangs on to the pretense of a secret identity, although everyone knows he’s really comic book publisher John Page)? Probably not—but in this satirical look at super-heroes, it’s enough fun just to watch him try.
