Spaceknights

From 1979 until 1986, Marvel published the adventures of ROM, the greatest of the Spaceknights, who came to Earth from the far-flung world of Galador to eradicate the shape-shifting Dire Wraiths who had infiltrated human society.

This five-issue limited series picks up several years after the end of ROM—who cannot be named because Marvel is no longer licensed to publish stories of the Ideal action figure—and the First One (formerly ROM) has died. He leaves his children and a younger generation of Spaceknights to carry on in his name. Four neighboring planets have formed an alliance against Galador, the Dire Wraiths have returned, and these young heroes—two of whom are princes of Galador who feel the pressure of their father’s achievements—must prove that their training at the Academy of Spaceknights has been worthwhile.

Writer/co-plotter Jim Starlin (Captain Marvel, The Infinity Gauntlet) and artist/co-plotter Chris Batista (Steel) prove that they are a team to be reckoned with in this excellent, space-faring five-parter.
