The Copybook Tales

    (Slave Labor, 1996-1997)
™ and ©1996 J. Torres

Jamie was always an avid comic fan, and the flashbacks to his childhood strongly contrast his innocence and fervor then, with the harsher realities of his grown-up life. One scene in particular should strike a chord with any fan: young Jamie lamenting the impossibility of ever selling his comic book collection, side by side with a scene of adult-Jamie fervently counting his cash after just such a deed.

There are no superheroes with dazzling powers in this book, no building-smashing battle scenes, and no maniacal villains with plans of world conquest. There is, however, solid writing combined with quality artwork. It’s a great story about an average guy with big dreams, trying to make it in a world designed to smash your hopes on the rocks.

Copybook Tales started as a mini publication, where it proved popular enough to make it to standard format.
