Proximity Effect
(Image, 2004)
™ and © 2004 Top Cow Productions Inc. and Spacedog Inc.
When a quiet, unassuming loner named Caleb wanders into a local dive, Lisa, the wise–cracking would–be rock star on stage gains superhuman powers and suddenly becomes a guitar phenom. As it turns out, Caleb is a Source and Lisa is a Siphon, and they share a relationship known as the Proximity Effect. The proximity of the two determines the effect. Lisa embraces her new situation with amazing aplomb as the pair run from an organization called The Protectorate bent on saving the world by killing all the people identified as a Source. Another organization appears on the scene to rescue them but this group may not be what it seems.
The first two chapters of this story were published online at proximity-effect.com to generate buzz for this comic, which collects those chapters and adds the third. An intriguing backup feature called Myths and Legends reveals the prevalence of the Proximity Effect in historical figures, manifesting in both heroes and villains.
