Cyberfrog: 3rd Anniversary Special

CyberFrog is an over-the-top super-hero who has no qualms about slaughtering those whom he deems beyond redemption. Apparently when violence is carried to absurd extremes it can be an imaginative source of humor. For example, when CyberFrog impales evildoers on meat hooks, he leaves them with a sign proclaiming, “We are hooked on phonics.” Additionally he breaks the fourth wall, directly addressing the reader with, “I’ll see you after this subplot.” The subplot referred to is the introduction of his arch foe, The Fly, who swallows his victims whole, pausing only to spit out an offending Pearl Jam tape.

Creator Ethan Van Sciver’s art bears a resemblance to Todd McFarlane’s cartoony but elaborately detailed characters. The cult status of this title prompted Harris to reprint early issues after only three years in this self-proclaimed Commemorative Edition.
