Hero Squared X-Tra Sized Special

    (Atomeka, 2004)
™ and ©2004 Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis

Captain Valor’s world has come crashing down. His best friend, The Grim Knight, lies dying at his feet along with all of his allies and the entire population of his planet. His archenemy, Lord Caliginous, has finally achieved victory. But when Caliginous attempts to destroy Captain Valor on a molecular level, Valor mysteriously disappears.

Milo, a perpetual film student, just can’t seem to find a niche in life that suits his slacker personality. His chance at a job with his girlfriend’s company disintegrated when he voiced his opinion about corporate tyranny. He’d rather return to his pizza–box strewn apartment to play video games anyway. But when Captain Valor bursts into his apartment expecting to find a hero like himself, both men come to some harsh realizations. Valor has been hurled across the dimensional barrier from his world, where he is a responsible, mature, fearless super–hero, to Milo’s world where he is just Milo. And since Caliginous will no doubt find Valor and his other world iteration, Milo will need to grown up fast.

The parallel universe concept has been a staple of comics since the 1960’s when DC used it to explain the existence of the Golden Age versions of their Silver Age heroes. The idea is mined for its humorous potential in this title written by veteran writers, J.M. DeMatteis and Keith Giffen.
