This book is a winner in every way. Alex Ross’s gorgeous painted artwork is coupled with a thoughtful script by Paul Dini, making this a perfect holiday tale.

As Superman prepared to celebrate Christmas, his attention turned to the hungry people both in Metropolis and around the world. He faced the age-old dilemma: in the midst of such riches and power, why couldn’t the hungry be fed? He knew from the start that he alone couldn’t solve the problem, but he hoped that by launching an all-out effort to transport unneeded grain to the needy around the world, he might kick start a worldwide effort that could at last solve the problem. In the course of his one-man war on hunger, he learned two powerful lessons. Most hunger is not due purely to a lack of food, but to the human elements which prevent it from getting to those in need. He also learned that a man who is given food eats that day. When he learns to grow it, he eats for a lifetime.
