Xombi is David Kim, “your average man who can’t die.” David’s body can rebuild itself, whether the damage is a minor cut or the stripping away of his entire flesh. Within minutes, he’s back to normal—whatever that is.

This title began with Xombi #0, which formed part of Milestone’s Shadow War crossover series. The series began in its own right a few months later with Xombi #1. That issue told of how David, a promising young research scientist in the field of nanotechnology (microscopic machines), had the bad luck to be working late when his building was overrun by strange, mystical beings. They slaughtered everyone in the building in an effort to steal disks and devices from David’s lab. After being critically wounded by the attackers, David begged his assistant to inject him with nanomachines programmed to rebuild his body. Surprisingly, this not only saved his life, but now prevents him from dying at all!
