Yuta and Mana are immortals who were given eternal life by eating the flesh of a mermaid. They have traveled together for centuries, chronicling the events of the world. When they came across a young boy who was scarred and bruised, they offered assistance. The boy told them that he has been kidnapped and then ate something which instantly restored his body and health. Immediately, the travelers suspected that the boy possessed the powers of mermaid flesh. This caused Yuta and Mana to escort the boy home where they found more than they bargained for. There’s a mystery surrounding the young boy’s home. It is a mystery that involved more than twenty years of a family’s history and one that Mana and Yuta vowed to solve.

Mermaid’s Mask is a black-and-white mini-series that was created, written, and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. The series premiered in the U.S. in 1995.
