Celestial Mechanics: The Adventures of Widget Wilhelmina Jones

Widget Wilhelmina Jones is a charming rogue and space mechanic who has just done the impossible. By studying the remains of a wrecked spaceship, extrapolating from her own mechanical knowledge, and using quite a bit of imagination, she has managed to duplicate a semantic loophole space drive. This drive is the key to interstellar travel—and a closely guarded trade secret of the Halplex corporation. The way she figured it, she had three choices: use it to break up Halplex’s monopoly on space travel; offer to sell it back to Halplex so that the secret could remain safe; or go into business for herself. She chose the latter option.

To help her in her scheme, she has enlisted the aid of her little sister Terebinthia, a cadet in the Halplex-owned Space Patrol; Flange, a gorgeous computer hacker; and Quarkstomper, a fellow rogue who once was the object of Terebinthia’s crush. With them, Jones is setting out for adventure—with Halplex assassins close behind!
