Kid Death & Fluffy: Halloween Special
(Event, 1997)
™ and © Quesada & Palmiotti
Kid Death, created by Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti, who are also responsible for the straightforward super-hero fireman, Ash, take a wild turn from the conventional with this character. Kid Death, a prepubescent with an unwholesome fascination for flame-throwers, is an over-the-top farce. The challenge of this kind of title is to be funny while purporting to be offensive; a goal that requires a judicious dance around bad taste.
This Halloween special by John Cebollero and Rick Parker features severed body parts, hors-d’oeuvres consisting of eyeballs on crackers, a game of musical chairs with a operational electric chair, and the incredible bustline of Kid Death’s older sister. These are just a few of the elements that at one time would have sent a Comics Code Authority official into a stunned stupor.
