The Adventures of Jo-Joy

This comic was given away during the holidays by the beloved-but-defunct retailer, W.T. Grant Co. (“Grants”, for short) during the years immediately following World War II. The series kicked off with a tale of a talking, living Jack-in-the-Box and his owner traveling to the North Pole to get Santa Claus to bring snow to the boy’s hometown for Christmas. With the help of the aforementioned “Wonderful Whale” not only does the boy’s wish come true, but Jo-Joy and the boy also get to attend a magical Christmas Party at the bottom of the sea! Bizarre hijinks ensue.
