This digest-sized comic, the first of Gemstone’s new “Take-Along Comic” series, contains new material featuring Disney’s favorite duck as well as his Uncle Scrooge and Mickey Mouse. The stories are fun, self-contained adventures that will hopefully familiarize new readers to the world of comics.
The stories feature the long-established characterizations but in contemporary situations. The popularity of reality television shows plays a significant part one of the Donald Duck stories and changing the future á la The Terminator movies is a pivot on which an Uncle Scrooge story turns. Interestingly, comic book collecting is a factor in two stories, which lends a kind of self-referential quality to the proceedings.
