Stupid Heroes

The title sounds like a parody. It’s not.

By now, comic readers have grown used to super-heroes who can level buildings with their bare hands. What happens, then, when their own minds start to crumble? In this title, that’s exactly what’s happening. A disease called dementia dominus or “Stupidheroes” has swept through the ranks of the super-heroes, turning them into super-powered imbeciles. At worst, they wind up completely divorced from reality, posing an incredibly threat to the world.

Stupid Heroes was created by Peter Laird, best known for helping create Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Artistically, it is drawn in a style deliberately reminiscent of Jack Kirby’s work in the Silver Age Marvel comics. This makes for an effective contrast between the grandeur of the old super-heroes and the disease that is laying them low.
