Blending the two worlds of fantasy and science fiction into one visually stunning package, The Red Star is a comic book like no other. Aside from its unusual mix of genres, the book’s visuals incorporate stunning 3D computer models and coloring effects to create imagery unmatched by the industry’s standard super-hero fare. Its cryptic storylines, while managing to provide just enough information for each individual issue, keep readers coming back to the Image Comic to find out just how this saga will unfold.

Presented as a flashback, the story follows the aftermath that ensues with the collapse of the Red Fleet—a Soviet like military power—at the hands of the evil sorcerer Imbohl. Even its futuristic crafts and weaponry—powered by the Warkasters, a class of military sorcerers—is no match for this master of the dark arts. Set against this turmoil is the all too human story of Maya Antare—a Sorceress Major and member of the Warkaster—who is struggling to find her husband, Marcus, allegedly lost while leading a frontal assault against the enemy. Even now, nearly nine years later, the heroine refuses to accept the loss of her husband on the battlefield.
