This mini-series from Vertigo by Joe R. Lansdale, (Jonah Hex: Two-Gun Mojo), is not for the squeamish. Set in east Texas in the 1940’s, Blood and Shadows features small-time detective Chet Daly on the trail of a gruesome killer the papers have dubbed, “The Skinner.”

Initially involved as a favor to his girlfriend who was worried about her brother’s disappearance, Daly embarks on a journey of horror and mysticism. His investigation leads him to the discovery of a cache of grisly trophies and the mythological God of the Razor, a deity governing all things sharp and evil. Daly will risk much to defeat a demon that is entirely beyond his experience, but The God of the Razor has made it personal. This curious blending of the hardboiled private eye genre with the occult leads the reader into territory familiar to Clive Barker fans.
