This third Blackhawk series finishes the overhaul of the Blackhawk legend that Howard Chaykin began in Blackhawk (2nd Series).

The series takes place in 1947, two years after the Last Great War. It was a time of rising paranoia over the “Worldwide Communist Conspiracy.” It seemed everyone was on the lookout for closet Communists. Even mythical Imperial Comics, which put Blackhawk’s wartime adventures into comic form, was forced to change his name from Janos Prohaska to “Bart Hawk,” toning down his Polish ancestry and “real-life” links to Trotskyism. News of this remake soon reached the “real” Blackhawks, who found that too many people were willing to forget old heroes when caught up in fear of the “Red Menace.”
