Patsy Walker and Hedy Wolfe were the stars of this series aimed toward teenage girls. Patsy, the redhead, was the quintessential “Miss Popularity,” a fact that caused no end of friction between her and raven-haired Hedy. As a result, Hedy spent most of her time trying to steal Patsy’s spotlight, or beat time with Patsy’s many admirers. In one story, Hedy stole Patsy’s homework so that she would get in trouble and be disqualified as class queen. Hedy was appointed in her stead and was pleased to be photographed for the local paper. In the end, the joke was on her as the harried editors accidentally swapped headline photos between the winners of the class queen contest and the adjoining story on the local pet show.

A immediate favorite when it was launched in 1945, this title lasted for two decades. Patsy Walker also appeared in Miss America, Patsy and Hedy—and much later—as the super-hero Hellcat in the Defenders.
