Barry Blair (Samurai, Ninja) describes this four-issue mini-series as one of the most violent things he has ever worked on. In Ripper, the reader gets a chance to take a whirlwind ride through the mind of a crazed vigilante. From Ripper’s “birth,” the murder of his fiancée, to his many bloodcurdling adventures, Ripper is one disturbing comic book series.
Ripper is actually a man known only as Aaron. Aaron lost his mind following the murder of his fiancée by a pack of wilding youths. Driven by an insane desire for vengeance, he armed himself with a very large knife then he began hunting the ones responsible for his fiancée’s death. When he had done that, he found that it still wasn’t enough. He had grown to like the violence, and decided to make a career as a costumed vigilante. However, he’s only human which means that he isn’t bulletproof Unfortunately for this ultra-violent “hero,” he tends to forget this little fact.
