Mother Teresa of Calcutta

    (Marvel, 1984)
™ and ©1984 Marvel Comics Group

Catholic missionary Mother Teresa ran a hospital in the grimmest slums of Calcutta, India, ministering to the lepers, beggars, and orphans of one of the world’s most impoverished cities. In the early 1980s, when she was already in her late 70s, she began getting recognition for her work, culminating with her winning the Nobel Peace prize. Mother Teresa of Calcutta is an unusual double-length comic from Marvel telling the life story of Mother Teresa from the point of view of a cynical journalist whose hard soul is eventually softened by her gentle goodness.
