Black and white; read right to left.
Yet another mega-series that has spawned a hit TV show and trading card game, here, the main character starts off dead. Yusuke Urameshi was a 14-year-old delinquent until he suddenly decided to save a child from an oncoming car and ended up the victim, instead. Can he continue to be selfless as a ghost in order to rejoin the real world?
With the lovely spirit Botan as his guide in the afterlife (an assistant to Enma, the lord of the dead), Yusuke’s new test is to hatch a mystic egg, which develops from the energy of his soul. The only way to ensure that it won’t become a monster is (you guessed it) to become a do-gooder. Since his body still has a heartbeat, can he make amends with his would-be girlfriend Keiko, nemesis Kuwabara, and other acquaintances in need?
Also adapted into the CPM anime Poltergeist Report, this manga is a dramedy of Good Samaritanism couched within teen-age school sarcasm. Chock-full of dialogue asides, sound effects, and exaggerated reaction shots, it is aimed at the adolescent audience that pines for supernatural intervention to fix the mundane problems of everyday life.
