When the creatures like vampires and werewolves that have no qualms about ripping out the throats of helpless young women feel the need for legal representation, they turn to Alanna Wolff and Jeffery Byrd, Counselors of the Macabre. Apparently the specter of ongoing litigation is more threatening than a frenzied crowd with torches and pitchforks. That is an opinion that anyone can relate to and writer/artist Batton Lash makes point succinctly with the series’ tagline: Beware the Creatures of the Night—They Have Lawyers!
This title, like its previous iterations, is a biting satire on the trappings of modern society. In this series Wolf and Byrd deal with a vampire beset by the media as the next hot story, a werewolf hounded by a young woman with a fetish for hairy men with fangs and most absurdly, television psychiatrist named Dr. Fill who has made lycanthropy the subject of his show. Aside from using pop culture as a target for his parody, Lash also continues storylines involving members of the supporting cast.
