Warcraft: The Sunwell Trilogy

In the world of Warcraft, the blue dragon Kalec takes human form to escape death at the hands of the forces of evil, only surviving through the kindness of the human girl Anveena. As they journey together, enemies become allies, and soon they have banded together to save the High Elven Kingdom from the Undead Scourge. All of which may mean more to you than it does to me, but even for those of us who aren’t big fans of epic fantasy games, there’s a lot to admire here. First, there’s the script by New York Times best–selling author Richard Knaak, which manages to get the balance between flowery speeches and exposition and blood and thunder just right. But foremost, there’s the beautiful art by Jae-Hwan Kim, which will also appeal to people who don’t like manga and have never even heard of Korean manwha. His work is a bit more subdued than on King of Hell, but there’s still all of his lush detail work that breathes life into an attractive cast of characters and creatures.
