Hedy De Vine Comics

Hedy of Hollywood #37–50
Curvaceous, empty-headed society girl and would-be actress Hedy Devine provides the slapstick laughs and goofy adventures in this light romantic title from the late 1940s. Teasing her boyfriends, infuriating her jealous girlfriends, spending money, and getting mixed up in spicy mishaps are Hedy’s main occupations. Each story also presents a convenient opportunity for Hedy to shed her evening wear for a flattering swimsuit, ballet tutu, or lingerie.
The formulaic lead stories in Hedy Devine are often upstaged by one-or two-page gag strips like Harvey Kurtzman’s “Hey Look,” or pre-psychedelic fill-ins by the truly demented Basil Wolverton. Hedy also shared the spotlight with stories featuring Nellie the Nurse and Millie the Model.
