Goofy Comics

At the great funny animals of the 1940s reunion (an event which, if fully attended, would require renting the San Diego Convention Center), Uncle Pigly, Charley the Paracub, Doc Owleye, Zomby and Bomby, and Alley Bob-Cat might be found over by the punch bowl under the Goofy Comics banner, pestered by the occasional fan, but generally ignored by everyone else. This cast provided what laughs were to be found between the covers of Goofy Comics, the companion title to the equally obscure Happy Comics, through its ten-year run from 1943 to 1953. In later issues, some text illustrations were provided by the young Frank Frazetta, who did a lot of funny animal art before launching his career as a fantasy painter.
