Action Force (Marvel UK)
(Marvel UK, 1987-1988, 1996)
™ and ©1987 Marvel Comics UK, Ltd.
While the United States had G.I. Joe toys and comics, England and the rest of the world had Action Force. This was a rename of the toy line by Hasbro to make it more relevant for foreign markers, and less "American".
Despite a short run of two years and fifty issues, this weekly comic produced by Marvel UK achieved great success. Like the Marvel UK Transformers comic, Action Force contained reprints of US material, and introduced new original material by writers such as Simon Furman. Indeed the connection between Action Force and Transfomers goes beyond even the similar format - a crossover event between the two comics went across several issues and Action Force material had been printed as a backup strip in Transformers, making these issues in particular highly prized by both international and US fans alike.
