JLA: Zatanna’s Search

    (DC, 2004)
™ and © DC Comics, Inc.

When she first appeared in 1964, the DC Universe’s resident Mistress of Magic, the beautiful Zatanna, had a problem: her father, the Golden Age magician-turned-crimefighter Zatara, was missing; and being the ever-dutiful daughter, Zatanna turned to the World’s Greatest Super-Heroes for help. Aiding her in her mystical quest that ran through six Silver Age DC series were Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Batman, Robin, The Atom, the Elongated Man, and Green Lantern. This trade paperback collects each installment in Zatanna’s inaugural storyline behind a gorgeous Brian Bolland (Batman: The Killing Joke) cover and includes the origins of both Zatara and his fishnet-stocking-wearing offspring from DC Special Blue Ribbon Digest no. 5. This is a nice package for Silver Age aficionados, as well as those who may have come to know the very sexy Zatanna primarily through her more recent Vertigo appearances.
