Series continued from War Against Crime (E.C.) #11

This classic horror title began its life as War Against Crime. A rather ordinary crime comic, the title began adding a horror feature in issue #10 and introduced a creepy narrator known as the Crypt Keeper. The change proved remarkably successful, and by issue #13, the crime stories were abandoned and the title became Vault of Horror.

Vault of Horror formed a sort of ghastly trinity with sister titles Tales from the Crypt and Haunt of Fear. The Haunt’s Old Witch and Tales’ Crypt Keeper would routinely team up with the Vault Keeper to present ghoulish tales of ax murderers, monsters, and the undead. In addition to their regular tales, the series also included the odd Ray Bradbury adaptation. These stories were made all the more frightening by the consistently great art of Jack Davis, Johnny Craig, and Graham Ingels.
