Leading Screen Comics

    (DC, 1950-1955)
™ and © DC Comics
Series continued from Leading Comics #41

One of the strangest format changes in the history of DC Comics, Leading Comics originally was a super-hero title similar to others being published at the time like Action Comics, Detective Comics, and Adventure Comics. Then, all of a sudden, the contents were changed to feature DC’s roster of funny animal comics, including their star which would become the star of this title as well as his own, Peter Porkchops. The word “Screen” was added to the title with issue #42 in 1950 to make the reader assume that Porkchops and company were refugees from the big screen. Apparently the ruse worked and the title continued for another five years.
