Startling Crime Illustrated

    (Caliber, 1991)
Caliber

Startling Crime Illustrated owes much to the “true crime” genre, telling tales of horrible crimes, and examining the circumstances that led the killers over the edge. It uses its black-and-white format to good effect in this regard, bringing a certain “film noir” feel to its stories. Nevertheless, this collection of comics tales, text pieces, and “startling crime facts” don’t have the same impact as other titles in the genre, notably Eclipse Comics’ True Crime Comics.
