Impact Christmas Special

In the early 1990s, DC bought the rights to the Archie Comics’ super-heroes of the sixties, (and Radio Comics before that), to launch their Impact sub-imprint line. The Shield, The Comet and The Black Hood were revived, (albeit with altered origins and identities), and joined by the Jaguar, the Fly and the mysterious group called The Web.

In this one-shot which foreshadowed the return of the team-up title, The Crusaders, the Impact heroes each undertake separate missions to retrieve former members of a group of scientists named The Magi who long ago worked with the crime lord known as Indigo. The scientists testified against Indigo and were given new identities, but now Indigo has escaped and demands that The Magi be surrendered to him to exact revenge. To that end, he kidnapped the president of the United States to use has a hostage.

In the best tradition of super-hero team-up titles, the Impact heroes accomplish their individual assignments and then cooperate to rescue the president.

Although the title of this book is Impact Winter Special, the indicia names it the Impact Christmas Special #1.
