“Business is business.” The corporation known as Telemachus had hired on Lars and Marie Gunnar to help them with their business: building cyborgs for military use. The pair’s work involved bonding a second consciousness to the cyborg’s human body in order to give it increased perceptual abilities. Unfortunately, they were only able to sustain such a bonding for three months or so before genetic incompatibilities would cause the unit’s breakdown. Fearing their competitors would gain on them, Telemachus arranged an “accident” for Lars and his daughter Jo, then tricked Marie into performing the operation which turned them into a cyborg.

Today, Lars is closer to his daughter than anyone else—she’s literally in his head. He has created a cybernetic fantasy world for her there, trying to shelter her from the deadly battle he fights to rescue his wife and gain his revenge against Telemachus.
