Doug Slack has put together a living tribute to high school life in general, and to the outcasts with the alternative lifestyles who don’t give a fig what other people think of them. An adult black and white due to language, this series has lasted so long because the reader actually starts to care about the characters and is shown that they are people just like us with dreams and the problems of everyday life. Wak, Patricia, Mitch, Dana, and the ever-graphic Randy survive the rigors of high school life and puberty in these middle to short-length stories intertwined with various spots featuring not only Schmenkie but Doug Slack himself.
