™ and ©1947 Fawcett Publications, Inc.

The third member of Fawcett’s burgeoning Marvel Family (which included Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel, Jr. and assorted others), Mary was the long-lost sister of Cap’s alter-ego, Billy Batson. She was granted the powers of the goddesses Selena, Hippolyta, Ariadne, Sephyrus, Aurora and Minerva by the old wizard Shazam and fights evil in the guise of super-heroine Mary Marvel. After some memorable guest appearances in Captain Marvel and Whiz Comics, plus a permanent spot in the team-up feature Marvel Family, Mary got her own book in 1945 where she entertained with lighthearted adventures in the endearing Fawcett style. She was revived along with her super-siblings by DC in the 70s and can currently be seen in The Power of Shazam.
