Spider-Man: Hobgoblin Lives

    (Marvel, 1997)
™ and ©1996 Marvel Characters, Inc.

In The Amazing Spider-Man #289 in 1987, the Hobgoblin, enigmatic beneficiary of the Green Goblin arsenal after his presumed death, was revealed to be Daily Bugle reporter Ned Leeds. This resolution left fans surprised and dissatisfied with its rather unfulfilling conclusion, especially since the revelation was made in a flashback and Leeds had already been killed in Spider-Man vs. Wolverine. Now, similar to the Spider-Clone story (itself undone due to tremendous fan resentment), this title reveals that Ned Leeds had been framed and was never really the Hobgoblin.

The real mystery man returns to brazenly murder his successor, the incarcerated Jack O’Lantern. A plethora of suspects are presented so the reader, along with the entire cast, can attempt to solve this decade-old riddle.
