Tower of Shadows
(Marvel, 1969-1971)
™ and ©1970 Marvel Entertainment Group
Tower of Shadows was in some ways just another monster comic, but in others, it excelled. Lasting only nine issues under this title (it later changed names to “Creatures on the Loose”), it featured work by some of the great artists of comics. Bernie Wrightson, Jim Steranko, Barry Windsor-Smith, Wally Wood, and Paul Adams all contributed their talents to these early issues. The stories within were a varied lot, but the best ones, including an H.P. Lovecraft adaptation, were excellent.
