The Power Company: Skyrocket
(DC, 2002)
™ and ©2002 DC Comics
Feeling that she had hit a glass ceiling regarding her naval career, Celia Forrestal came home to St. Louis to contemplate her options. Her parents were research scientists who were testing their latest project, the Argo Harness, which could absorb and transform one type of energy to another. Unfortunately the harness attracted the attention of a mercenary group called Scorpio, which had been hired to steal it. Green Lantern was on the trail of this organization, but he was too late to prevent the events that are the standard formula for super-hero origins. Encouraged by Hal Jordan, Celia adopted the name Skyrocket.
Skyrocket was one of seven one-shot books that served to introduce each member of Kurt Busiek’s new series, The Power Company. The Power Company is a super-hero group that is incorporated like a law firm, taking some jobs on a for-profit basis and others as pro bono work.
