Jax Epoch, a typical teen, has the power of the Quicken, which makes her life a little more interesting than most people’s. On one hand, she’s got Nosteries, a dark elven mage who’s after her power. On the other hand, she’s running from DAK, a company researching Jax and her mysterious book of magic and wanting her for all sorts of lovely experimentation. Then there’s her dreams, which seem to be trying to tell her something that she can’t quite completely understand, but are a lot friendlier than robotic dragons or knights.

Some days, a girl doesn’t know which side of the portal she should stay on.
