Crime Detector
(Timor, 1954)
™ and ©1954 Timor
Crime Detector was one of the thousands of crime and punishment comics that flooded newsstands during the early 1950s, following the heyday of Golden Age super-heroes and prior to the establishment of the Comics Code. An otherwise unremarkable entry from a anonymous publisher Timor Comics, Crime Detector featured some extremely early artwork by Steve Ditko, who would go on to fame with his work on The Amazing Spider-Man and Doctor Strange for Marvel ten years later. Jay Disbrow, another skilled draftsman of comics’ forgotten era, contributed a classic story to Crime Detector #5, the last issue.
