Steel
(DC, 1994-1998)
™ and ©1994 DC Comics, Inc.
John Henry Irons was working as a steelworker when the monster Doomsday dropped a building on him. Superman saved Irons that day, and Irons vowed his gratitude. So when Doomsday later killed Superman, Irons used his engineering skills to forge a suit of high-powered armor and become the new “Man of Steel.”
When Superman came back from the dead, Irons decided to go back and clean up his old neighborhood, Washington D.C. Once Irons had worked for a firm named AmerTek as a weapons designer, creating all sorts of armaments, including the awesomely powerful BG-80 “Toastmaster” gun. Now street gangs were using these guns to chop each other up, killing innocents in the crossfire. Someone had to put a stop to it, and that someone was John Henry Irons, a.k.a. Steel.
