Raven is Danielle Thorne, a beautiful martial artist with the ability to change her form at will. She is accompanied in her adventures by her father, the mysterious Ian Macallister. Ian refers to himself as a scholar, but in reality he is a member of an enclave of sorcerers. Ian and Danielle pair their abilities to act as mystical troubleshooters, encountering everything from sword-wielding enforcers to a 500-year-old necromancer.

Raven #1 marked the premiere of Renaissance Comics, a Richmond, Virginia-based independent publisher. Although the early art came off a bit rough, it showed remarkable improvement from issue to issue while at the same time developing an interesting story and characters.
