The Atom

Ray Palmer, a professor at the prestigious Ivy University, developed a portable shrinking device which he uses to shrink himself down to six inches and smaller—as well as to adjust his weight from feather-light to the 180 pounds he weighs at his natural size. Unfortunately for the bad guys, Palmer, instead of publishing his great discovery, uses it to fight crime as the Atom, the world’s smallest super-hero.

This delightful science-fiction title also touched on history and art without ever being overbearing, preachy or surreal. After the Atom became a full-time member of the Justice League of America, he shared this series with fellow League member Hawkman.
