Like the Terminator, the Trencher has been sent across time to hunt down and eliminate certain special individuals. The individuals in this case are some of the over one thousand “accidental reincarnations” that occurred between 1900 and 1990.

But other than the time travel and huge guns, Keith Giffen’s (Lobo, Ambush Bug) first effort at Image bears little resemblance to any Terminator we’ve ever seen. This Trencher is none too thrilled with his lot in life, a life made worse by the fact that he’s really just reanimated tissue. His disposition is made worse by the constant warning of doom by his robot companion. Finally, there are the targets: super-villains whose power consists of using their nose hair as a weapon, and killer grandmothers with near-nuclear capability. What is a poor Trencher to do?
